I'm having trouble mounting a toothed wheel to my Alfa Romeo engine. There simply isn't any belt-wheels to mount a toothed wheel on. No one is thick enough. I also cannot find any suiting place to mount a VR sensor.

I do have a distributor with a faulty sensor. Since I'm not going to use it anyhow - could I simply replace the toothed wheel that is on it now ? It has 4 teeth, none missing. And have made a new wheel 36 teeth with one missing. And then just mount the sensor suitably ? Or would the teeth be to close to one another since the wheel is going to be much smaller - that the EDIS unit wouldn't be able to read each tooth ?
